About the Photographer Many years ago I received my Bachelor of Arts in Visual and Environmental Studies and a Masters of Architecture from Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley, respectively. Thinking that these would prepare me for a career in architecture I settled into the San Francisco Bay Area. I was right, but I was also not especially convinced that I wanted to be right. After some thirty years, I realized through my photographs that what I was after was not about architecture at all. It was about the spirit of place, of time, of memory. Now, when I am not writing for children or teaching students at the University of New Mexico about the creative spirit of architecture, I explore photography, an art which showed me the error of my ways. I seek inspiration in my travels and in the beautiful high desert of my New Mexico home. |
